Miriam Schorr, LMSW
Miriam Schorr, LMSW, earned her Master of Social Work from Adelphi University. She provides psychotherapy to adult women and adolescents, drawing from a trauma-informed, relational, and strengths-based approach. Her clinical experience includes weekly therapy focused on emotional regulation, anxiety, trauma, and life transitions, as well as school-based counseling where she supported adolescents’ emotional, social, and academic development and collaborated with faculty to address students’ needs.
Miriam integrates somatic and nervous system–informed approaches into her work, including training in psychosomatic breathwork and ongoing Self-Regulation Training (SRT). She values the mind–body connection and supports clients in building awareness of their emotional and physiological experiences while developing tools for regulation and resilience. Her work often focuses on helping clients slow down, notice patterns, and cultivate a greater sense of internal safety and stability.
She is also deeply interested in psychodynamic and psychoanalytic thinking, particularly how early relationships, attachment experiences, and unconscious processes shape present-day emotions and relational patterns. Miriam is drawn to exploring themes such as longing, loss, identity, intimacy, and the search for meaning, balancing insight-oriented exploration with practical support. Before her clinical training, Miriam worked in education and special education roles, including classroom teaching, learning support, and work with children with diverse learning and emotional needs. This background informs her developmental perspective, sensitivity to individual strengths, and flexible, patient approach. Miriam’s style is warm, thoughtful, and collaborative, and she aims to create a safe therapeutic space where clients can deepen self-understanding and move toward meaningful, sustainable change.
